THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK OF THE USE OF ICT IN THE ESO

Nowadays, we live in a permanent revolution since we are able to handle information and technological devices that we could not imagine few years ago. Lifestyle has changed affecting the way we live and work and it is central to develop new capacities and abilities to be integrated in a connected society that it is in an incessant change. Students must be prepared to adapt themselves to this society. Thus the formation in this competence is essential in the syllabus of the secondary education. Developing digital competence in the educative system requires the right integration of the use of ICT in the classroom and qualified teachers in this competence. According to the legal framework in Spain, ICT must be present in every syllabus of the different subjects in the secondary education. For this reason, European Union works for students to be able to acquire knowledge, skills and aptitudes to adapt themselves to the possible demands within ICT field.  Due to the massive amount of technological devices that appear in a very short period of time, it is important to educate in an appropriate use of tools that facilitate students to interact with their environment, as well as the ethical and legal boundaries that their use implies.  Students of ESO and Bachillerato are digital natives so that they are familiarized with the presentation and transfer of digital information. In this sense, the possibility to have access to a massive amount of information implies the need of classifying according to relevance criteria that allows students to develop a critical response. Therefore, students should be able to incorporate and link this technological learning with the rest of subjects.
